P99 CONF 26 Agenda: The Wait is Over

Finally, the P99 CONF 2026 agenda is set. We won’t bore you with all the behind-the-scenes juggling and jigsaw work involved. Please, just make sure you’re signed up, then start choosing your own adventure through the various tracks.

Yes, you can catch up on any talks that you missed once they’re on demand. But the live event is your only chance to chat with all these experts (and experience all the “hallway track” nerd sniping). Plan accordingly!

In case you’re new to P99 CONF, it’s a free, virtual, and highly technical conference on all things performance. Hot topics this year include io_uring, eBPF, C++, Rust, Go, Zig, Java(!), database internals, dist sys challenges, new measurement tools/techniques, and – of course – quite a few talks on AI.

Featured talks include:

  • Avi Kivity: The Difficult Life of an I/O Request
  • Jens Axboe with Glauber Costa: io_uring: Past, Present, Future
  • Chip Huyen: Effective Coding and Working with Agents
  • Dor Laor: How to Improve Your Cache Algorithm Using AI
  • Ragnar Groot Koerkamp: The SimdQuickHeap: The Fastest Priority Queue by 2x
  • Madelyn Olson: The Vertical Scaling Wall, and How Valkey Gets Over It
  • Georg Kreuzmayr: The Fastest Object Storage Client in the World
  • Gunnar Morling: Hardwood: Building a Parquet Parser From Scratch (With a Little Help From AI)

io_uring, with Jens Axboe

The wait is (finally) over for Jens Axboe, a guest the P99 CONF community has been requesting for years. Glauber Costa will be hosting a “ringside chat” with Jens about the past, present, and future of io_uring. (Side note: Glauber was one of the first to recognize and write about io_uring’s potential, waaay back in 2020.)

And if io_uring is your thing, note that we’ve got quite a few talks around it this year:

  • The Fastest Object Storage Client in the World (TigerBeetle)
  • Sandboxmaxxing at Lovable: Every Prompt Gets a Sandbox in < 1s (Lovable)
  • An Asymmetric io_uring Backend for Seastar (ScyllaDB)
  • Breaking SQLite’s Single-Writer Bottleneck (Turso)
  • Well-Designed Databases are CPU Bound (Thoughtworks)
  • The Difficult Life of an I/O Request (ScyllaDB)
  • Building Ultra-Performant Message Streaming (Apache Iggy)
  • Building a Real-World 14 GB/sec io_uring + tokio + Arrow + Rust Pipeline (Conviva)

P99 CONF Around the Clock (and Around the World)

And more news: we’re doing a special P99 CONF track for Europe, India, and Asia-Pacific time zones. We appreciate the dedication of the community members who have been joining us at rather inconvenient times for years. This year, we’re offering an option that (hopefully) lets you enjoy the event as well as get some sleep.

You will be able to watch (and chat about) 8 P99 CONF talk premieres along with your peers from 9:00-12:00 BST, 10:00-13:00 CET, and 13:30-16:30 IST on October 22. You’re also welcome to join us at the usual conference times on October 21 and 22 to watch 50+ totally different sessions.

Everyone who registers will have access to all tracks. Just pop in whenever you like!
